Painted Black is an Italian gastro bar in central Tirana, opened in autumn 2023 by a group of Italians with backgrounds in top restaurants and members' clubs at home, and named after the Rolling Stones song. The kitchen builds a casual Italian menu around ingredients brought in from Italy, from focaccia and burrata to fresh pasta, steaks and a dramatic dark panna cotta, served in a black-toned room with art-led design and a leafy terrace for aperitivo.
Why We Love It
The owners are usually on the floor, greeting tables in Italian and steering you toward whatever arrived from Italy that week, which gives the black-lacquered room the warmth of a friend's dinner party. Come early for a spritz on the terrace, then stay for pasta that tastes like it was made ten minutes ago.
