Ceren Ismet Shehu is a traditional Albanian restaurant inside the walls of Tirana Castle, run by the chef of the same name. The kitchen turns out village-style cooking: mezze boards of local cheeses and cured meats, fërgesë, byrek, slow-cooked lamb and casseroles baked over the wood fire, served in a timber dining room with an open hearth and a lively terrace.

Why We Love It

The wood fire at the back of the room sets the tone here: rustic, generous and unmistakably Albanian, right in the middle of the old castle. It is the kind of place to share a board of cheeses and a carafe of local wine before the lamb arrives.
